Nevada Spice Rating - Cool Ranch
Hello, hello, hello again, fellow friends and travelers!
This week I'd like to take you on a totally normal, not glitchy, perfectly ordinary trip to the grocery store! Which one? Meow Wolf's Omega Mart in Las Vegas, of course!
Located at Area 15, an immersive entertainment and events district, Omega Mart does a very good job at pretending to be a 100% genuine store...at first.
Approach one of the every day-looking, brightly-coloured displays and discover well-known, popular grocery store products such as:
(These are actually all available for purchase. No, seriously
go look. I'll wait)
As you continue on through the aisles, you'll continue to see the mundane humdrum of products on shelves
A pretty standard butcher's counter
And of course a daiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
iiiiiiiry section.
So.
What's REALLY going on here?
Meow Wolf, founded in 2008 in Sante Fe, New Mexico, is an arts and entertainment company with hundreds of artists contributing to large-scale whimsical, fantastical, and often-times bizarre interactive projects. The name comes from their first meeting, in which two random words were drawn from a hat.
The first Omega Mart (located in Sante Fe) took the combined efforts of around 1000 artists to pull off in 2011, followed by the opening of the Las Vegas location ten years later in 2021. In Denver, Colorado, Meow Wolf also has the Vortex Music Festival, Convergence Station, and plans to open two other permanent installations in Grapevine and Houston, Texas.
In 2022, the Meow Wolf Foundation was formed, which plans to give back to the communities that are home to their installations.
I don't want to spoil too much of these amazing creations, so be sure to check out a Meow Wolf location in person if you can, or maybe catch some walkthrough videos on their site or YouTube!
That's all for now! Stay weird, everyone!
